I'm nursing a hurt ankle, but ready to ride.  I don't know what I did to the ankle, it maybe the tippy toe situation I have with the new BMW RT.

I've never done Mt. Cheaha, and I'm thinking I would like to take a ride there pretty soon.

I would like routes and such from people who have done it, and some insight as to what to look out for. I'm coming from the Bessemer area, and will probably tackle the route from south to north. (Down 280 to the start)

Here is a route there for you. This is my usual way I go.

Thanks Greg,

You got a GPX of that?

I can't figure out if I can save that or not.......I'm not Bing versed.

I love the Cheaha area. I am from Montgomery so I always come up from the south. Lots of good roads in the area. 143 put of Sylicauga is nice. Then take 9 north to Ashland. From there take CoRt 31 to Clairmont springs. Blueridge rd then dead ends at Adam's gap where the southern end of the scenic highway starts. Just take your time on Blueridge rd if you go this route. It's a hard packed gravel road that is a bit rough but totally rideable.
