RFP #11 - Tellico, Tax Avoidance, and Pie, April 13-16

Ride Info: Meeting Place:  Jack's, 307 US-31, Athens (Google Maps link) Meeting Time: Thursday, April 13 @ 8:00AM Kick-stands up: @ 9:00AM Route to Tellico: 206 miles, lunch stop along the way, Google Maps link Arrival: Approx. 4:00PM Eastern ~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm taking off Thursday and Friday from work to have a 4-day weekend around Tellico and Robbinsville.  This will be a dual-sport weekend for me, but all bikes are welcome.  We don't have to stick together, but it would be cool if we had a group of folks hanging out together in the evening.  I'll be on the KLR650. The plan: - Leave north Alabama on Thursday morning - No interstate ride to Tellico - Camp at CMTC - Ride some dirt roads and twisties - Return home on Sunday

Don't have routes yet for Friday and Saturday, but I want to ride Witt Road, visit the Lakeshore "Tunnel to Nowhere", and ride Rich Mountain Rd and Parson Branch if they are open.  May also ride the Dirt Dragon and visit McFarland/Hiwassee Dam again.  All of this is "adventure bike" friendly.  Nothing gnarly.

I'm planning to stay at Cherohala Mountain Trails Campground (CMTC), http://www.cmtrails.com/.  Cabins are $50/night, but there are two beds, so you could share a cabin (not a bed) and get away with $25/night.  Or you could camp there for $10/day.  To make a reservation, go to the website, click "Rates," and then the "Book Now" button near the bottom of the page.  I have already reserved Cabin #1.

Well, good!  That means that I only have to take Thursday as a vacation day.  My company gives Good Friday as a holiday.
