North Alabama Vintage Riders' Digest for Jan 6, 2018

Hi, Everyone!

The bitter cold didn't dampen the attendance or high spirits at the Blue Plate Cafe II this morning!  It did, however, compel even our toughest riders to leave their steel horses in their garages until the temperatures rise again.  But with plenty of hot coffee and great food, the atmosphere was as exciting as ever.

Here are our upcoming events:

Breakfast at the Blue Plate Cafe II every Saturday.  Come on out, and bring a friend or two!  Scott Paulson brought a guest this morning, Andrew Pope.  Welcome, Andrew, and we look forward to seeing you again at any/all of our events in the future!

Jan 13th:  Arenacross racing in Cullman.  Our Tom Schuman is coordinating a special series of events for NAVMC's vintage dirt/flat track motorcycle community!  I extracted this from his entries on Facebook:

I'll be talking to the promoter of the Arenacross event in Cullman today about the 1/13/18 race and exhibiting vintage motocross bikes. I plan on displaying our NAVMC banner. I'm hoping they can provide enough space for us. I also need to have an idea of who would want to race? If we have 4-6, they will run us.

The promoter says he will put us in their program and the $30 you will get practice, heat races and final . Even trophies. He said it is up to us on classes depending on the number of riders. Bikes must be 1985 or older.  [An area has been designated for show bikes that aren't taking part in the racing.]

Jan 27th:  There are three events to choose from:

- Easyriders Bike Show, Nashville.  This is a tour that travels across the nation, and will stop in Nashville over the weekend of Jan 27th.  https://www.cyclefish.com/motorcycle_event/37968

Feb 3rd:  Jennifer Nelson of Barber Motorsports Museum comes to Huntsville (Blue Plate Cafe II) to discuss the benefits of volunteering to support events at Barber throughout the year.

Feb 10th:  South Florida's First Annual Vintage Two-Stroke Motorcycle Show at Sunsports Cycle and Watercraft, Ft Myers, FL.

Feb 17th:  Our first Garage Crawl of 2018, taking place at Andrew Jennings' garage!  We'll depart from the Blue Plate, and follow Andrew to his garage.

Feb 23rd - 25th:  AHRMA vintage motorcycle racing, Bloomingdale, GA

Feb 24th:  Redstone Harley-Davidson is conducting their annual Chili Chilly Ride.  Kickstands up at 10:30 am, and all proceeds from the event go to the Huntsville "Forgiven Riders" Chapter of the CMA.  https://www.cyclefish.com/motorcycle_event/44090
