North Alabama Vintage Riders Digest for February 17, 2018

Hi, Everyone!

The weekend of February 17 and 18 was event-filled once again!

-  A number of us traveled from our Breakfast Binge to Andrew Jennings' garage.  This event captured the essence of who we are:  Ordinary people with an extraordinary passion for the sport of vintage motorcycling.  And no one embodies that more than Andrew, as evidenced by the awesome bikes he's built in his (almost) perfectly-ordinary garage!  I posted a batch of photos on our facebook pagefor all to enjoy.  We collectively thank Andrew once again for his gracious hospitality. 

- Meanwhile, Fred Kroeger departed breakfast enroute to buy two motorcycles--a vintage Norton that he's going to keep, and a late-60s Triumph that he's going to sell.  Facebook feedback when he announced that the bike is for sale hinted that he might sell it quickly, but I haven't yet seen confirmation that the bike is sold.  If you're looking for a vintage Triumph project bike, contact Fred ASAP!

Here are our upcoming events:

Breakfast at the Blue Plate Cafe II every Saturday at 8 am.  No motorcycle required--just a love of the sport.  So come on out, and bring friends!  Let's keep packing the house every Saturday morning!

Feb 20th:  The Huntsville "Forgiven Riders" chapter of the CMA sent us an invitation to join them for their monthly social supper tomorrow evening at 6 pm.  It will be at the La Alameda Mexican Restaurant, 311 Jordan Lane.

Feb 23rd - 25th:  AHRMA vintage motorcycle racing, Bloomingdale, GA

Feb 24th:  Redstone Harley-Davidson is conducting their annual Chili Chilly Ride.  Kickstands up at 10:30 am, and all proceeds from the event go to the Huntsville "Forgiven Riders" Chapter of the CMA.  https://www.cyclefish.com/motorcycle_event/44090

March 2:  Cycle Gear Bike Night, Cycle Gear on South Memorial Parkway, Huntsville

March 2-3:  Indoor Flat Track Racing at CALSONIC Arena in Shelbyville, TN  https://www.cyclefish.com/motorcycle_event/43414

March 3:  The Huntsville "Forgiven Riders" chapter of the CMA will be blessing bikes at Redstone Harley-Davidson from 9 - 10:30 am.

Looking long range:

March 31:  Volunteer Training at Barber Motorsports Park.  We'll (tentatively) put together a group ride for all who wish to ride to Leeds together.  More details as the date nears.

April 14:  Garage Crawl to Gordon Byrd's shop in Decatur!  Gordon has a decades-long legacy building and riding a wide variety of motorcycles, and this garage crawl promises to contain excitement for everyone, regardless what kind of bikes we tend to gravitate toward!

- April 28th:  The Athens Car and Bike Show.  This show is growing by the day!  Already, I'm developing a separate edition of the Riders Digest that will detail what we're hearing about this year's bike show.  The one thing we already know for sure:  This year's show is gonna be exciting!

- May 5-6:  A weekend with Graham Foster, enjoying both on and off road riding in the area of Dahlonega, GA
