North Alabama Vintage Riders Digest for May 19, 2018

Hi, Everyone!

As always, our breakfast at the Blue Plate this past Saturday was a great time for everyone.  Notably absent was RJ, who was away celebrating 35 years of marriage with his lovely wife.  Congratulations to the Reynolds!

I've followed feedback from our AMCA members, and am pleased to see that the weather smiled on all who traveled to Denton, NC for the AMCA Southern National meet.  Particularly inspiring were a series of photos that Erik Bahl shared, documenting Liz Vickery's top end repair work done in the Denton Farm Park's barn, where she replaced the rear head gasket on her Shovelhead Harley FL.  She later wrote that the repair was successful, and she made it home without a hitch--HOORAY!

I told her that she now has me inspired to finish the prep work on my own Shovelhead Super Glide so I can ride it up to Sturgis this September to see Erik Bahl and the other Cannonball participants as they make their midway stop in Sturgis enroute to Portland, OR!  Enough excuses...It's time for me to get my ol' Shovel back on the road!

This could be more of a "WASHOUT"
Our forecast here on the Gulf Coast is looking at tropical rains 7 - 10 inches. Hope the wind won't be a factor.

We just got a good "wash" up here in Huntsville--it poured for a little over an hour!  Hope things are drying out your way and the Blowout proves successful!
