We went to Mile High Campground a couple of weeks ago to beat the heat. It's just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, around 9 miles or so from Maggie Valley.  Our campsite was over 5,000 feet in elevation.  It was in the 60's in the evening and downright chilly at night.

Elk often come into the campground  to graze, but bears had been making visits the week we were there.  This is the only thing that came around our site.

People gather in the evening for the sunsets.

Sunrise is nice too.

We wandered the dirt around Cataloochee.

I finally got to peer over Buzzard's Roost.  I've looked for it on three separate occasions.  Haynes had a flat on the way home.   I munched on a number 1 with cheese in the Krystal parking lot while he tried to get a plug to hold.  Twenty miles down the road and it started leaking again.  We pulled into an abandoned service station and plugged it for the last time. Don't buy your plugs at the Dollar Store.

Nice report!  I wish that I could get away from the heat right now!
