Just got back home, wound up taking a detour to Hwy 25 and back lol. would have had fun except for about 5 encounters with deer.

Nice to meet everyone sorry I didn't get there in time to talk much had to eat something lol. really enjoyed the movie.

Enjoyed the pizza and the movie.

I thought the movie was very good. While I like the "racing" part of the movie - both the video and the recap of the seasons - I really enjoyed the human interest part of the movie.

It did a good job of "humanizing" Rossi, Sic, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Stoner and Marquez. It is easy - for me at least - to watch them do their thing and feel awe and huge respect for the talent, while at the same time losing sight of the fact that there are "real people" inside the helmets, with real feelings, thoughts and dreams.

I've always been fascinated by motorcycles, but never really got into sport bikes or racing.  In the last two years, I've wanted to watch the MotoGP, but it's hard when you first begin watching any sport.  You don't know any of the people, the history, the commentators' references, etc.

This movie was an outstanding primer to MotoGP, at least the last 10-15 years of it.  I like all of the riders covered in the movie.  They are all human and have different perspectives and attitudes, but they are all amazing riders.  Rossi was humorous and circumspect for most of his career, except for the two years at Ducati.  Makes it harder to understand his current behavior re: Marquez.  The story of Marco Simoncelli was sad.  He was another very likable person.  The Spaniards are more serious and business-like, which makes them seem callous, but beneath that is a tremendous desire to compete and to win.  All of them appear to have suffered serious injury at some point, flew to a nearby city for plates and screws, and were back racing within 48 hours, all because they refused to give up.  That is a testament to their fortitude and strength of will.

I want this movie in my digital collection.  It was a bit overwhelming the first time, trying to learn it all in one sitting.  I need to watch it at least two more times...

There have always been "serious and businesslike" racers. The majority of the champions are like that. The "free spirit" types, while far more loved by the press, generally don't have the sustained success of the more intense but less interesting to the press types. A perfect example of this would be the press treatment of Barry Sheene compared to Eddie Lawson. Racing is far more "business" now than the glamour of the past. The pressures to "deliver" for sponsors is incredible.

One other observation...

It did a good job of giving the viewer a glimpse into the hero status of GP riders in Europe.

MotoGP is a MUCH bigger deal over there - particularly so in Italy and Spain - than it is here in The States.
Those guys really do rise to the level of National Hero. (Something which I think is kinda' cool.)

But, I remind myself, Europe is a continent of many different countries, all jammed up together, so inter-country rivalry would be expected. The US is just one big country and I guess College Sports and NFL and MLB sort of take the place here.

And Oh yeah..... NASCAR.   ('Murica!)  :P

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The pizza, not so much. However I'm sure it's great if you are on a diet because it passes right on through. I'm pretty sure my pizza was faster than any of the racers we saw on the screen. I will not be eating at Pieology again.

I'm a casual MotoGP fan. I've been to the Indy race twice and watch it on occasion. There's been a few seasons that when I've watched almost every race. I wish it had a following like it does in Europe. I think I would enjoy it more if I had more friends that were into it. Maybe go to a pub and watch like those folks do in Rossi's hometown of Tavullia, Italy.

And I think everyone agrees the stars of the movie are Tavullia's priests, Don Cesare Stefani and Don Giuseppe Signoretti. Now get this, the church is called the Church of San Lorenzo the Martyr. Can you say irony?

The 2016 MotoGP schedule says they will be at COTA in Austin April 8-10. I'm interested in investigating a trip out there. Anyone else?

Edit: let me rephrase. I AM investigating the feasibility. Anyone want to join me in the discussion and probability of a group trip?
