Like the title states I'm in Daphne. Originally from Birmingham. I'm 30, and have been riding on the road since high school thanks to my dad. Don't do a whole lot of riding down here, the roads just aren't my style. But once or twice a year my Dad and I try to make some long weekend trips into the mountains. We just did one on Memorial Day weekend.
Just recently traded in my Street Bob for a KTM 1190 Adventure R in Huntsville. Love it so far. But I have to get a new seat, and some new luggage before I can take any trips on it. I broke up the trip with a stop in Hoover. Learned quickly on the 250 mile trip from Jefferson to Baldwin Co. that the seat was not meant for distance riding. Never done any dirt riding, but I hope to ease my way into it on this bike. Just don't really know anyone else who is into it. My dad rides a VTX, and another buddy of mine in B'ham rides a Gixxer. So it's just me with the capability. Looking forward to being a part of this forum, and learning of some new roads to try out.
welcome to the show, you may think you're alone but the dualsport community here far and away the most active I'd say. I've been thinking about making the very same trade you did, I've wanted to try out the big bore dirtbike for some time.
This bike has the speed of a sport bike, good handling, and option for plenty of luggage. That's why I jumped off the HD ship. I do miss the exhaust though.
Plus I can stand up and get some weight off my boney butt.

Welcome from Montgomery.
Welcome from Stockton...For some good hills and curves in our area checkout the route from Stockton up to Perdue Hill, then over to Camden. You won't be disappointed.

Welcome from the north end of the state. We have a few members down in your area.
Watch the Let's Ride, Planned Rides and Events. You can always post up your own ride.
I'll be in Gulf Shores in October, maybe we can have a flash mob while I'm there.
I'll keep an eye out for ya. Should be much more pleasant weather that time of year.

I'm not sure if that's the ride I took. But 41 from Monroeville to Camden was a nice surprise.

I took that road on a recommendation from this site back when I wrote a ghost town report on Claiborne. The trip report was lost on the old site, but I enjoyed the road also.
There may not be the hills and twisties of counties and states north, but there are still plenty of roads to just get away from it all in south Alabama.
I'm originally from Calvert (Washington Co/Mobile Co line) and now living in Montgomery.
Welcome!
Welcome from Florence.
Welcome from Birmingham. Let's see that KTM!
This at my grandmother's in Holly Pond. Luggage and seat will soon be gone.
