Title: Motorcycle Parking / Storage Advice
Post by: Aguaepanela on January 25, 2025, 10:19:20 PM
Hey y'all! I am really interested in getting a motorcycle for the first time but I need some advice. I am wanting to start with a 300cc for weekend riding. Right now, my biggest obstacle is that I live in downtown Bham and my apartment place does not have a parking area. Street parking is out of the question. I am not very trustful of the public parking garages, they are expensive and offer little safety from theft. I have gone around to the different storage facilities but the facilities near me that either don't accept motorcycles without having to empty the tank or only have limited time access until 8 or 9pm. And I don't want to move because I am conveniently in walking distance to work and because of my contract I wouldn't be able to anyways.

Let me know if y'all have any advice or suggestions. Thank you!

First off, Welcome to the site.

As for parking, where do you park your car?

Another option, run an ad to park your bike at someones house for a fee.

Any chance that your work place has corner or small area where you can park and lock or chain it like a bike?

Also, yes welcome to the site!!!!

Thank you I appreciate it, I'll be taking the MSF in two weeks and I'm excited!

So, I do not have a car anymore, it had a fatal engine problem. So I've been considering a motorcycle as a fun replacement option, especially since I walk to work. I guess I could park it and chain it at work, but I am not sure how comfortable I feel leaving it overnight in the city exposed both to weather and any potential thefts. I live 45+ min walk from the nearest residential homes area... so I could rent a small garage, but a 45 min walk is impractical for getting to what would be my only vehicle. There are some apartment places with private parking garages nearby, so I am planning on asking if they'll rent me a space. Parking garages usually have weird corners where a car wouldn't be able to park, but a motorcycle can, so it would be free money for the apartment place - at least that's my logic, I hope they agree.

What about parking it inside the apt? Got quite a few friends in the Atlanta area and this is what they do to avoid bikes being stolen.....
