Hi, Everyone!

Regrettably, I couldn't make breakfast yesterday, but I'll share all the information that I have gathered (with a big thanks to Dale Proctor for providing information from breakfast!!).

I start this week's newsletter with sad news:  Our dear friend and fellow motorcycle enthusiast Dan Marrs succumbed to pancreatic cancer late last week.  A schedule of services has not yet been announced, but I'll post a special update to this Digest as soon as I learn the particulars.  In the meanwhile, please join me in praying for solace for Dan's family in their time of grief and loss.

Now, on to brighter news:

First:  With the addition of Jerry Cooch, NAVMC-on-Facebook is now 3,000 members strong!  It's great to know that so many others around us share our passion for vintage motorcycles, and want to be a part of something this exciting!

Second:  A big THANK YOU to Alan Nicholson for having originated, and now leading our Sunday BBQ rides!  Positive comments and thumbs-ups abound following the ride Alan led today to Guntersville for lunch at The Brick BBQ restaurant.  Go ahead and block your calendar for next Sunday's ride to Gibson's BBQ in Decatur!

I am taking the liberty to share some articles that I spotted this week.

First up is an article about two men from France who completely restored a "barn find" 1918 Harley Davidson motorcycle built for use by the Army in WWI.  Now they're riding it across the U.S., but will have it back in France in time to ride it in a parade down the Champs Elysees when France celebrates 100 years since the end of WWI.

Next up is a short post about some amazing women who are doing a 17,500 mile ride around the world.  This ride is celebrating not only Ana Sofia being cancer free for 10 years, but also celebrating Ana Pimenta for being cancer free for 1 year.

Finally, though few of us will trek 17,500 miles on a single voyage, many of us will travel on multi-day trips to destinations all over the U.S.  For those trips, here's another very helpful article that shares tips for locating biker-friendly lodging.
