The tire is hanging in there anyway.  Looks like lots of tread life left.

The last two days have been grueling for me. We all agreed if yesterday was not the absolute worst days we have ever ridden, it ranks in the top two. I am exhausted, cold and everything I have with me is wet. For that, I am ill prepared to ride today. I have rented a uhaul to get me to Montana, where hopefully I can see Don for a couple hours before heading out on the bike to make my way home on the United States of America Interstate system. You can call me a wimp, but there ain't no shame here. I rode to Alaska and part of the way back :). I know my limitations and the limitations of my bike. I am making a judgment call for my safety. My SPOT will be on.

See you fellow BamaRides folks sooner than anticipated.

You are not a wimp, you have traveled more miles in 2 weeks than a lot of riders do in a year. When you do get back you do not have to worry about being cold but still might get wet.

You are not a whimp nor a failure.

You rode a single cylinder motorcycle from Alabama to freaking Alaska.

Read that again over and over. It's pretty awesome.

So I say, good for you. Just getting there was an accomplishment that 99.99% of the population would never ever consider. Take it easy and come back safe.

Might I suggest you avoid the interstates on the way back unless you really need o make time.  There is still a lot of beautiful country between Montana and Alabama and you won't se it from the freeway. I'm not saying take the goat trails and such.  But the secondaries will be a much more relaxed ride than fighting against freeway traffic all the way back.  Riding the freeway will be stressful, tiring and generally no fun.

Just sayin.

Oh.  And one more thing.   Remember that Adventure is Adversity in Retrospect.    You have had a grand adventure.

Nothing wrong with making an intelligent decision. When you are tired you might make a mistake that could hurt you. Best to come home in one piece and remember the fun you had on the road.

Karla, if everyone was a wimp like you,...this would be an awesome world!  I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your ride reports when you get time and energy.

Ha! It's already been said, you've ridden more in a couple of weeks, than most motorcycle owners do in a year or two.

Or a lifetime, in my case.  You are a confirmed badass for life.
Sounds good except for pretty much everything you said.  ---Brian A

I am in a hotel in Billings, MT. It shuts off automatically to save battery life if it doesn't move and I don't send a message. I will start it again in the morning. :)
