North Alabama Vintage Riders Digest for February 10, 2018

Hi, Everyone!

The weekend of February 10 and 11 was active and enjoyable for NAVMC members near and far.  At Saturday's breakfast binge, Linda Robinson oversaw our last 50/50 drawing to support Dan Marrs and his family.  Though the group at breakfast was small, donors still contributed just over $200 to the 50/50 bucket.  Our winner was Fred Kroeger, who returned his winnings to the bucket to support the Marrs'.  Thank you, contributors, and thank you Fred!

This brings NAVMC's combined donations to the Marrs family to approximately $2,800--$300 beyond our gofundme goal!  Thanks to every one of you who shared in supporting the Marrs' through the financial crisis they're enduring at this tragic time!

If any of you still wish to donate, our gofundme site is still open, and both Scott Paulson and RJ Reynolds are available to receive any contributions you have that could help the Marrs'.  Every contribution is appreciated!

Elsewhere, Steve Varga posted a wonderful set of pictures from South Florida's 1st Annual Vintage 2-stroke Motorcycle Show, held at Ft Myers onto the NAVMC Facebook page.  If you haven't already, open our page and peruse the the photos he posted!  Thanks, Steve and Tina!

Finally, Mike Ashbaugh was able to travel to Barber Motorsports Park to join the AMCA Smoky Mountain Chapter for their special meeting.  He shared the following summary:

"Meeting went well, they voted in all new leadership. I think it's positive! They are going to have a set up at barbers for vintage this year, if you bring a bike to display you get in all three days free. Going to try for 100 bikes! I volunteered 2."

Thanks, Mike!  We'll definitely share the AMCA's invitation and see how many bikes we can add to their display!

Here are our upcoming events:

Breakfast at the Blue Plate Cafe II every Saturday at 8 am.  No motorcycle required--just a love of the sport.  So come on out, and bring friends!  Let's keep packing the house every Saturday morning!   

Feb 17th:  We're going to Andrew Jennings' garage for our second Garage Crawl of this year!  Most of you have seen at least one of Andrew's amazing bikes--his Triumph was our banner feature on the Facebook page for a month, a few months back, and his CB750 Cafe Racer is a trophy winner!  We'll depart from the Blue Plate, and follow Andrew to his garage, which is only minutes from the Blue Plate.

Feb 23rd - 25th:  AHRMA vintage motorcycle racing, Bloomingdale, GA

Feb 24th:  Redstone Harley-Davidson is conducting their annual Chili Chilly Ride.  Kickstands up at 10:30 am, and all proceeds from the event go to the Huntsville "Forgiven Riders" Chapter of the CMA.  https://www.cyclefish.com/motorcycle_event/44090
