I'm planning on riding the entire BRP this time. My plan is to leave Sylacauga 5/3/16 around 7 am. I'll be taking all back roads, 0 superslab! I'll be heading to Tellico Plains TN, hit the Cherohala Pkwy to Robbinsville. Probably ride the dragon again before setting up camp for the night somewhere. (I have a good stealth camping spot near Robbinsville.) Next day up early and start over to Cherokee NC where I/we will start the BRP. I plan to take it all the way to the end in VA. I really have no plans as to where I'll camp or the route back home. I'll just be winging it as I go. Anybody else like a good adventure is welcome to join me. I did this a couple of times last year alone but I never rode the entire BRP. It's a pretty fun ride. I expect the trip to last 4-5 days.

Major change of plans, I've been wanting a Concourse for about a year now so my wife can ride along with me sometimes, well at 2:30 this morning I was looking around and found a brand new 2015 Connie for the best price I've ever seen. Thing is its at a dealership in Maryland! I sent them a few emails to make sure everything was on the up and up. It was, I called and talked to the salesman and we made a deal, I went to the bank and got a certified check for the bike. I'm taking a trip, just not the one I was planning. I booked a flight into DC's Reagan Intl arriving Monday night at 9:20 pm
Being the cheap ass that I am, I'm just gonna sleep in the airport Monday night. The dealer had an employee that lives nearby that's gonna pick me up on his way to the dealership Tuesday morning. I will buy the bike in Maryland and try to make my way back to central Alabama. I'm looking at possible routes, I'm thinking the BRP is still possible but I'm worried after working off night shift Monday morning and trying to sleep in an airport Monday night the chances of being exhausted are pretty high. I want to make a good trip out of my first fly n ride but might say F$#k it and slab it back to Bama. It should be interesting either way!

I'd ride down and hit the Skyline Drive, it runs into the BRP......My wife and I rode them both complete last summer.

Be sure and take time to go into the "Wheels Through Time" museum in Maggie Valley, NC.....

If you like I can send you our rides stops, and campsites for the trip.

That would be great, I have no plans on which way I'm gonna come home. I'd really like to do Skyline and the BRP. If you don't mind, please send me the campsites. Thanks!

I sure hope so, been wanting one for a long time. I've heard a lot of mostly good things about them.

I had a'13 model for a short time. I had to get rid of it before it made me a felon. It's hard to ride that bike anywhere near the speed limit.
Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however,  extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity.

If it don't scare you, you ain't doing it right.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

That's what I'm afraid of. I keep telling myself that I'm gonna be good, but I know me and fast bikes ;D

This place is great!!! The owners are great people and actually live here in Alabama, but run the campground during the riding season.

Thanks for the link. If I'm in the area it looks like a nice place.

I am probably the tamest rider here, and I was really lucky to not get a driving award. I had a c-10, I can only imagine what a 14 hundred will be like. Congratulations!

Thanks! I'm gonna have to be careful for sure judging by what I've seen and heard. I got quite a few preformance awards back when I was younger on sportbikes (when I pulled over for em) ;) I'm a little smarter now than I  was back then....I think ;D

When you tighten your helmet strap, straddle a bike and grab the bars....you can kiss smart goodbye.

Just arrived at DCA after 6 hours of delays! Now to TRY to sleep in a damn airport for a few hours, then off to the dealership to pick up the new Connie.

That's a brutal schedule.  Update us from the road if you can so we know you're in good shape.
